Dr. Owens earned his DDS from the University of Missouri in 1996 and completed a Periodontics specialty and MS at LSU in 1999. Board-certified in periodontology and dental implant surgery, he opened his first Austin practice in 2001. He has contributed to implant research, published articles, and frequently lectures to stay at the forefront of new dental techniques. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys reading, traveling, fitness, and exploring Austin and Central Texas.

Now I am in the last phase of getting my All on 4 Bridge. I have been treated well and had no trouble getting the care I have needed along the way. I am looking forward to getting my permanent bridge in about a month.

Any dental work is scary. The staff at Optima Dental make you feel comfortable. The treatment coordinator Alison, explains financial options to help you choose the right plan for you. Dr. Ownes explains the procedure so you'll understand it. He explains what he's doing to help take away the anxiety you may have.

Dr. De Guzman is so awesome and Dr. Owen all the staff are so kind and friendly to me I was nervous about getting my full arch top and bottom implant but Dr. de Guzman called me multiple times to encouraged me I'm going to be fine and he did a great job fast forward I'm 5 day post up and so excited for my shiny smile Claudia was so excellent for all the follow up she answer all of my question I'm so happy look forward for my journey to have a white confident smile !

This was my first visit to Optima and I was very pleased. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Dr. Owens answered all my questions and offered knowledgable opinions as to a reasonable path forward. Ms. Scott went through the cost breakdown and explained each aspect of the financial side of my implant procedure. All in all it was a very good visit.

I came in last Friday in immemse pain due to broken implants (done elsewhere). Dr Owens quickly, yet gently removed upper set & immediately sent me to the hospital concerned the infection may be septic. He was so caring, and sent me an text the following day. I've spent every dime I had only to look as hideous as when I started this nightmare. I pray Dr Owens can help me, for the FIRST time, have a nice smile when I'm done with these antibiotics and my oral infection is gone. Thank you Optima & especially YOU, Dr Owens!

I reside in Waco and drive the eighty plus miles for appointments because of the staffs dedication to me as a patient and their specialized knowledge and expertise in each of their fields.

I was excited about getting the work done. Dr. DeGuzman discovered that I had a bone condition that would make the procedure dangerous. I had already taken out a loan for about $27,000. I was OK to go ahead, but the doctor was not. My Oncologist said the danger was about 10% and that it shoud not be that big of a deal. I've not been seen there since February and requested a refund. Since then I've heard nothing but excuses from the Treatment Planner. After weeks of my son and I begging fore info and/or a refund, I finally got a document of my treatment plan a little over a week ago and they are chargeing around $2000 for some impressions and prep they did. I don't know why they started that before they got my medical clearance. Bottom line is that I was willing to go ahead, the doctor was NOT, therefore I think they should refund me for all except the root canals and maybe initial X-rays, etc. I've left numerous messages and the the treatment coordinator takes her time getting back to me or not at all. I'd already paid almost $11,000 of the loan. They have not ever sent me a bill so I can figure it out. From what they HAVE sent, looks like they may refund $6,000 or so. If this gets cleared to my satisfaction, I will add stars to my review. If not, I guess I'll have to call it a one star review. Dr. DeGuzman was very thorough and was the first dentist who had checked with my Oncologist. But, aside from being heart broken that I'll have to wear old fashion dentures instead of the inplant arches, I have no gripe with him. Just the business office for not refunding my money so I can the the old dentures.

Second time with Dr Owen and a whole new team front to back since my last visit. Didnt think theyd be able to get it any better than the first round, but WOW! Everyone is in lockstep and know their roles, and they all have amazing chair said personality and warmth! So comfortable and I hate the dentist!

I LOVE THEM!! Mrs. Allison is just a doll, she walked me step by step on the whole process and didn't miss a beat, she was thorough and answered all my questions and even questions I didn't know I had. She was so sweet and personable, Dr. Owen's was very knowledgeable and made me feel safe. He explained everything to me about my mouth as well as answered any questions and was super nice! A friend referred our family to Optima for our kids wisdom teeth extractions. Everyone we interacted with was kind and helpful and the surgery went really well.
